1. Who is eligible to be in the choir?
Any Leelanau County resident between 8 years old and high school graduation can participate in one of the choirs. Leelanau Children’s choir is for students 8th grade and below. Leelanau Youth Ensemble is for students in 9th – 12th grade.
2. What are the benefits of joining?
Members of LCC/LYE share and enhance their love of music among the other group members and the community. They have opportunities to learn, perform and make new friendships. Participation enhances self esteem and self discipline. Many of our members have gone on to successful college and professional music careers.
3. When are Auditions?
Auditions occur each September. To schedule an audition, please call 231.883.SING.
4. How often do the groups practice and where?
The Choirs practice once per week with extra rehearsals leading to performances.
5. How often do the groups perform?
LCC/LYE have two main concerts each year, a Madrigal Concert the first weekend in December and a Spring Concert. We may perform at other events in the community as the opportunity arises.
6. What types of music are performed?
A wide variety of music is performed including classical, modern and pieces from the theater.
7. What does it cost to participate in LCC/LYE?

8. Who organizes the LCC/LYE?
LCC/LYE is organized by Director Margaret Bell and the Board of Directors
9. When was the LCC/LYE organized and why?
LCC/LYE was organized in 1992 to enhance the music education of Leelanau County Youth. The 2007-2008 season marks our 15th anniversary.
